Are you thinking of starting an online business?
The great news is now is the time to start a business online. There are ton of ways to start a business with no investment required.
Here are a few ways to get you started at building your way to financial freedom, more time for family, & a real passive income.
START A BLOG
Obvious idea from a blogger, right!? But starting a blog is a great and low cost way to get your online business started.
If you can invest in your own domain, fantastic because there are a lot more things you can do to make money that way, but if you have absolutely no money, don’t let that hold you back.
Start for free on WordPress. This will give you a head start at learning and growing your blog. Generating traffic is the number one way to make it profitable.
I mention some great points in my last post, the truth about starting a blog, that will make more sense to someone wondering where to start and what to expect from starting a blog.
Since growth is slow and there is a lot of learning that comes along with it, starting a blog for free isn’t a bad idea because you can always choose to financially invest more into your blog later once you know that blogging is something that you don’t want to give up.
YOUTUBE
Starting a Youtube channel is another way to get an online business going with no money because Youtube, over time will generate tons of traffic.
Youtube is for someone who can produce great content through video. Use what you have to start. Use your camera phone and editing software. There is some decent & free editing software that can be used to start. Just make sure that you aren’t camera shy when choosing to go this route. Being front of a camera may not be for everyone, but Youtube can be quite profitable once you build an audience.
FREELANCE
Freelancing is a great way to make money online with no investment. Fiverr is a great platform to promote your services for free. There are a ton of services people are looking to pay you for such as writing, video editing, translation, virtual assistance, social media marketing, graphics, web design, and so much more. Think about what you can do or go on Fiverr and check out other gigs to get inspiration on posting your first gig.
AFFILIATE MARKETING
Anyone with a blog or social media account can start affiliate marketing today for free. A few of my favorite affiliate marketing platforms are:
It doesn’t cost a thing to start an affiliate account with these platforms. My advice for this is start blogging and start linking. The pay off may not be that high, but this is still passive income that can be generated for free for years to come with the right strategy.
SPONSORED POSTS
Sponsored posts aren’t just for blogs. If you have an amazing following on social media platforms like Instagram or Twitter than you can definitely get sponsored.
If you are great at taking captivating photos, start an Instagram account and build a following for free. Are you good at tweeting things that tend to go viral? Then look to apply with brands that want people like you to promote for them on your social media.
Find great opportunities through places like:
These two have real opportunities for influencers & bloggers just like you! Check them out!
These ideas can all be started for free. No money down needed. I DO recommend that once the online business starts to grow, then look into what you can invest in to make it better. Whether it be a better camera or your own website domain, there is always something to invest in when starting an online business.
Growing an online business from the ground up isn’t completely free because it takes time and hard work. The monetary return on it may take some time too. But we all have to start from somewhere and the time to start is now.
Now go, create that amazing content people are out there looking for right now!

Great post, thank you for the advice! I’ve heard of Fiverr but never had a look into but perhaps I will! I’ve always wanted to start a YouTube as well but I’ve always been too scared to do it!

Thanks for reading! I believe everyone can succeed at working for themselves if they desire. YouTube is lucrative, but scary for me too! I am better at writing than being in front of the camera, but I hope to work on that soon! Good luck! Your blog is amazing!

Great tips here. I used to use Fiverr a lot but now I find it’s very saturated and it’s hard to get a gig that is worth doing for the little amounts of pay

Thank you! There are a lot of freelancers on Fiverr. I mentioned because it is popular and a more secure platform than some of the others I have seen for freelancers. I have seen some get work through craigslist or directly through their own platform, but it just depends what you are comfortable with. 😊

I didn’t know about Craigslist! Also – sorry, I wasn’t ragging on your recommendation for Fiverr at all! I was just lamenting it isn’t what it used to be but none of the freelance sites are. It feels like the rates are getting lower and lower.

Oh no worries. I totally agree about Fiverr. I had to lower prices to get competitive on there so I am currently looking for another way to get some freelance work! Feedback is always welcomed here! 😊
